Well I could chime in about yesterdays health care debate but lets be honest, everyone is covering that. I'd rather comment on this joke of an amendment Congressman Reyes of El Paso tried to sneak into the intelligence bill in the dark of night.
His actions where so reckless and without regard for our nations security that even house Democrats voiced opposition. Putting the defenders in harms way by putting a legal bullseye on them is just stupid! No matter where you stand on the issue of enhanced interrogations or water boarding these front line defenders where doing their jobs and have kept America safe be gaining up to 70% of all information we have about Al Qaeda.
What bothers me most is this really was a back door job on Reyes part and on behalf of Speaker Pelosi to get languge in the bill so she knows what our intel community is doing, not her job as speaker! Further he was willing to put our security at risk by putting the defenders at risk. You can't expect these folks to gain valuable info in the worst places on the planet dealing with the worst humans on earth if they are under risk of jail time for doing their jobs.
What Reyes did was sneaky and reckless, he put providers at risk and would have put their families at risk had this passed and these folks where exposed. If you go to his website you'll see a guy taking photo ops hugging kids and surrounded by veterans, the a typical politician! Do us all a favor, Congressman Reyes walk the walk and don't put American lives at risk! Oh, and say your sorry to the intel community!

Here is the thing, the public only "became" part of the conversation by our own shear will to be heard.
The fact is there was a wholesale attempt to block us from the debate! We exercised the fourth branch of government and
the attacks soon followed from the MSNBC types of the world.
Now tomorrow there will be yet another dog and pony show, this one on TV since the white house knows how ticked off we are.
However, rest assured my friends this will be pure theater and once the cameras turn off the DNC will flock to closed door meetings
in yet another attempt to usurp the will of America!
Polls show most of us favor some type of reform. This has been used as a club over our heads to say we want the government to
take over 1/6th of the economy. Fact is these polls show that we all see the need for improvement, yet all but about 22% of us get the fact the government is not the answer or source of that improvement.
So, my challenge is simple: Stop hiding in closed rooms making deals that help one Senator or state and hurt all of us! Stop claiming the polls are a mandate for a government takeover of health care...they are not! Stop, wasting time and money on this when home sales are dropping like a stone, jobs are being lost and we are $14 trillion in debt, and last...STOP telling us health care is the key to cutting the deficit!
Cutting back on social programs and pork spending is the key!

Paper Sword in a Plastic Sheath
<:od>The current approach the dealing with Iran won't work and we are just acting as tacit enablers as they buy more time. The fact is they are building the bomb and developing the technology to use it while the Obama administration takes a "Paper sword in a plastic sheath" approach to national security.
It's time to get tough with Iran and realize that only very harsh sanctions backed up by the threat of force will have any hope of stopping them from developing the bomb. Further, we have to recognize and be more supportive of the freedom movement in Iran. The fact that we refuse to openly support the freedom movement and I would contend recognize them as a legitimate party only emboldens the current military and secular leadership.
Cutting of gas imports to Iran is a very effective way to force their hand and also empower the freedom movement. Some will contend that the revolutionary guard will act out if we do this with attacks on US troops, and the unleashing of Hamas on Israel. I'll contend this will happen no matter the case and dealing with it now "BEFORE" they get the bomb is the key.
To date we have seen very, vague statements and little to no real action on Iran for pursuing the bomb with the express intent of wiping Israel off the map. Iran has the potential to be the next Germany pre or post WWII, what path they take will be directly related to our willingness to engage now or later. I think we need to see this as an opportunity to remove a world threat and build a lasting and real partner in the middle east that 40 years from now on the likes of post war Germany.

Here is the truth about yesterdays non-sense media event with the President about the one year anniversary of the stimulus plan.
He said 2,000,000 jobs had been saved or created: "Prevaricate"
Fact is we have lost 6,000,000 million jobs and the 10% unemployment number is the truth.
The administration wants you to believe things are all rosy. Fact is they count all the BS jobs on the federal tite as "saved" jobs. This alone should worry us all as it gets the the heart of the stimulus issue. Obama believes government is the source of jobs not the private sector. If we continue down this path, at some point the economy will have a tilt that we can't stop of more people tied to the federal roles than the private sector. At that point the tilt is so profound that we all become tied to the state. This "tilt" is also the key to the health care issue, to get all of us under federal health care.
He said we will 1,500,000 million more jobs created this year: "Prevaricate"
Fact is until we free up capitol for the private sector and small business the economy will not grow to the point of hiring 125,000 new people every month to meet that bold but false statement. The President needs to get a reality check and under stand with $14,000,000,000,000 in debt and growing we can't spend our way out of this mess with more stimulus or by using the current stimulus to create jobs on the federal payrolls. I assert that we only need look at the fraud, waste and flat out incompetence of our current federal employee base to see how flawed this is. These are not incentivized employees, they are protected by complicated contracts, regulations and unions that make near impossible to fire them. Further we have 5 people doing in the federal sector what 1 person does in a private company...it's a petri dish of growing incompetence.
Lets stop the lying Mr. President, we all know that no 2,000,000 jobs where saved or created (your own website recovery.gov even disagrees with you). We all know that you can't talk about bi-partisan commissions to lower the deficit on one hand while talking about more wasted spending on the other.
